Happy rainy June!

It’s me Nic, and thanks for reading another online musing from me.

It’s that time of year in Japan, especially for those of us down here in the south, when we all have to worry about mould, drying our laundry, and deciding what to do with all of our time inside!

Luckily, there’s so much going on at Fruitful English that I’m sure you’ll have something fun to do. Normally, I don’t like to write too much about work here, but I’ve had a bit of time of in the beginning of the year, and I’m taking a trip in July and August to visit Fruitful English’s own Lisa先生, teacher of our wonderful ドイツ語講座, so I’ll be spending June doing one of my favourite things, if not my absolute favourite!

ステップアップ英会話とは？

I’ve recently started doing our ステップアップ英会話 course, and it’s been tons of fun meeting lots of new students. The course starts with an evaluation of the student’s abilities, and I enjoy evaluating students, and checking their strengths and weaknesses. It’s truly impressive to see just how good you all are!

I know that Japanese people around the country decry their general English ability. How many times have I heard something like, ‘Japanese people aren’t good at English’ or ‘It’s hard for Japanese to learn English.’ In my experience on Fruitful English at least, that couldn’t be further from the truth!

まず「始めること」から

Of course, we’re a bit biased on Fruitful English. Of course, the students here are super smart, because they’re studying on Fruitful English! Still though, even students who have never studied before on Fruitful English still do well on the evaluation.

I think it’s important not to be scared! It’s a bit intimidating starting a new conversation course. You probably won’t have confidence in your speaking, but the most important step in improving is starting. It’s a cliche, but starting is the hardest part. Once you take that step though, you’ll see your improvement right away, guaranteed!

Our ステップアップ英会話 course has a range of levels, and every lesson has a specific goal. So, it’s not just ‘free conversation’. It’s a complete system to improve.
