Hello reader!
Nice to see you again! It’s Nic, your friendly English teacher and blogger from Fruitful English!
Last time, I told you about my family’s visit to Japan and how I hosted them in my house. It was a fun but stressful experience, especially because they had trouble with the language and the culture.

今回は屋久島ブートキャンプレポートです!
This time, I want to share with you my amazing adventure in Yakushima, a beautiful island in Kagoshima Prefecture. I hosted our Fruitful English Yakushima Boot Camp, a special program that combines English learning and outdoor activities.
Yakushima is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is famous for its ancient forests of Japanese cedar. Some of these trees are over 1000 years old and have a mystical aura. The island also has stunning waterfalls, beaches, mountains and wildlife. It’s a paradise for nature lovers!
大自然の中、4日間盛りだくさんのブートキャンプ!
The Fruitful English Yakushima Boot Camp was a four-day trip that included hiking, beach walks, writing postcards, and of course, eating, drinking, and laughing!
Participants had daily English lessons and activities, like scavenger hunts and singing with me and other native English teachers, plus, Lisa先生! She’s got a German Language Course coming on Fruitful English too!
It was a great opportunity to practice English skills in a natural setting and to make new friends.
日本全国からの参加者が集まりました!
We had 12 students from all over Japan, with a wide range of English abilities and levels (from 30s to 70s!). We all stayed at a cozy guesthouse near the sea, where we enjoyed delicious meals and warm hospitality.
I can’t pick just one highlight of the boot camp, though visiting Yakushima Cedar Land was certainly one of them. It took us through mossy forests and easy trails.
The boot camp was not only an adventure, but also a learning experience. Everyone improved their English by talking with each other and the teachers, using new vocabulary and expressions, and giving presentations. We also learned about Yakushima’s culture, history and ecology!
I had a wonderful time at the Fruitful English Yakushima Boot Camp. It was one of the best trips I’ve ever had in Japan. I’m so grateful to everyone who joined me and made it possible.
皆さんにおススメしたいブートキャンプ!
If you’re interested in joining our next boot camp or other Fruitful English courses, please get in touch with me on Fruitful English! We have lots more planned. We had our first Tanegashima Boot Camp in 2019, and I’m excited to hold it again this year!
That’s all for now. See you next time! I’ll have a bit more to share about Yakushima, perhaps ;).
