"Practice makes perfect!" I think this is correct! I am a little unique in my style because I don't think knowing ALL the names of the parts of speech, etc. is as important as knowing how to use them! If you can use a certain tense of a verb correctly, it really doesn't matter if you can remember the name of the tense or not!! (of course, knowing the names helps some people) Don't worry about making mistakes! English is a "fun, happy" language!!

日本に2011年に留学のため来て、国立大学で学部と大学院を卒業しました。バイトはいろんなことを興味津々でやって、専攻は言語学・政治学でしたので、様々な方々と、様々なことについて議論することや経験することに没頭する日々を送っていました。外国語を勉強するということは、INPUT・OUTPUTを常に気にすることですね。

どのような言い方を英語でするのかをINPUTでしなければわかりませんし、まなんだことをどんどんOUTPUTした上でより深く理解し、確実に覚えます。興味あることについて読んだり、ビデオ見たりした時、「英語を覚えなきゃ」という意識がなくなり、自然に理解してしまうことがポイントです。

I was born in Australia, but I lived in London, UK, when I was a teenager, and I lived in Osaka, Japan, throughout my twenties. I worked at a well-known English language school where I taught English to all ages and levels, from kids right through to IELTS, TOEIC, TOEFL, and my own high-level business courses focused on case studies.Over the years, I've also been, an IT support technician, a tax accountant, an author, and even a truck driver! I've visited many countries, I've studied lots of different topics because I'm a very curious individual, and I've worked in lots of different industries (from taxation, to IT, to teaching, to trucking!). I also published my own novel in Jan 2020, and I'm working on translating it into Japanese for my friends there. My advise to you is to look for the INTENT in writing, not the literal definitions. When you translate, you are communicating - and that includes the intentions, not just the words. Let's practice it a lot in my lesson!

日本に関するトピックであれば、皆さんもすでに知っていることなので、比較的簡単に内容を理解・推測することができ、文化の違いなどをあまり気にせず、感覚として英語でどう表現するか伝わってくると思います。

Hello! I have been teaching ever since I finished college. Early on, I focused on teaching local college students skills to help them succeed in their business classes, but I soon fell in love with language learning. Only a few years after I started studying Japanese, I moved to Japan and started teaching English as a second language. I have been using Japanese at work for several years now, but I still try to make time to study it every day. Learning a language is like “running a marathon.” Since it takes so long, it’s easy to get tired and want to quit. It happens to everyone at some point, but if you feel yourself getting tired, it’s a good idea to think about how far you have come. “Hey, I know that word! I learned it the other day!” “Wow, I would not have understood this movie last year, but I understand it now!” “Yes! That phone call went perfectly! They understood exactly what I said.” “I’m so glad I was able to meet locals and have real conversations with them in English this vacation!” Take time to recognize these moments when they happen, and remember how you felt! The good feelings you get when you remember these successes will help you stay excited about practicing English!

I have lived in South Africa my whole life, which is where I live with my family. We have two adult “children” who are both on their own journeys. We have rescued fur kids, as we are, and always have been believers in adopting animals that need homes. I love the idea of engaging with people from across the world, to get a greater understanding of cultures, traditions, people, and places. Being involved in online education relating to English as a foreign language has given me exposure to these aspects and continues to encourage me to explore further. I have been involved in education and insurance for many years with my work and volunteer life revolving around these two skill sets. As a believer in experiential learning being one of the best ways to acquire knowledge, in 2010 I founded a non-profit company relating to insurance industry career awareness, and we now run a program to upskill unemployed youth (mainly graduates) with a focus on employability, to get them closer to being employed.
